Caravan Coffee
Pete and Krista Miller, owners | Newberg, Oregon
Over two decades ago, Caravan Coffee emerged from a humble garage in Newberg, Oregon. Established by its visionary founder, Pete Miller, Caravan became one of Oregon’s pioneering coffee shops in the 1990s. Around that same time, Pete’s daughter Sarah was born. Within the first month of her life, Sarah’s life changed forever from an illness that caused severe brain damage. Shriner’s exceptional care has been pivotal to Sarah’s journey, allowing her increased mobility getting her to where she is today- a loved and outgoing young woman.
Caravan cares about giving back to the community and helping others. We are honored to partner with Shriners. Caravan’s care can be seen in its meaningful connections in the “Coffee Belt,” sourcing some of the world’s finest coffees from developing nations. Guided by a set of ethical standards in coffee sourcing, Caravan ensures positive impacts on both the source regions and the communities enjoying its brews. Today, customers gather in Caravan’s tasting room or on its website, diverse yet unified by the common pursuit of an exceptional cup of fresh coffee.
Hit Machine
Birthed in 1999, Hit Machine is a band you and your guests will never forget.
Created by Bart Hafeman, the energy projected from this 7 piece band is highly contagious to say the least. The band plays hits from all eras as it’s not uncommon to here Stayin’ Alive (Bee Gees), Kiss (Prince), Dynamite (Taio Cruz), You Shook Me All Night Long (AC/DC) all in the same set.
The band has synchronized dance moves and many appropriate ways to involve the crowd in the performance to make it an unforgettable event. Setlists can easily be tailored for the evening as well by focusing on a disco theme or an 80’s night. We offer dinner music as well. This can be played over the professional sound system from our laptop or played live by the band. The band line up can be expanded to add a 3 piece live horn section and female vocalists.
Hit Machine has been a guest of many prominent events surrounding the Portland Metro area including Travel Portland, headlining Hood to Coast several years in Seaside, headlining the Fort Vancouver Fireworks several years, playing many Blazer Playoff games down at the Rose Garden and for top notch corporate clients such as Nike, Intel, Sony, HP, Windermere and Comcast.
Hit Machine releases several original songs on all digital formats each year and shoots music videos that have been very popular on YouTube.
Threshold Brewing & Blending
Sara and Jarek Szymanski, owners | Portland, Oregon
Threshold Brewing opened in January 2019 in the beer-centric Portland neighborhood of Montavilla. Owned and operated by wife/husband duo Sara and Jarek Szymanski, the brewery is a passion-project for the couple. Over the past 5 years, Threshold has emerged as a local favorite, known for its award-winning brews, community-focused taproom and welcoming space. In addition, brewer/founder Jarek has leaned into his Polish background (he immigrated to the states in 2004), brewing a variety of Polish-style ales and lagers based on traditional recipes and with Polish hops and malts.
However, what began as a simple craft brewery has become something much more for owners Jarek and Sara. They have found themselves in a unique position to partner with fellow businesses and nonprofits in order to support the people and causes they care about. Most recently, their strong connections with the local Polish and Ukrainian communities have resulted in significant fundraising efforts for Ukrainian refugees overseas. Beer brings people together and Threshold is focused on channeling that energy for good.
The brewery is honored to partner with Shriners Children’s Portland for this momentous milestone of 100 years. You could make a case: beer isn’t unlike medicine – they both thrive on continuous innovation, high-quality standards, absolute efficiency and fruitful collaboration. Portland is fortunate to have some of the best hospitals and breweries in the country and Threshold looks forward to raising a glass together to the same community we all serve.
Level Beer
Shane Watterson, owner | Portland, Oregon
Level Beer was founded in 2017 with the mission to bring easy drinking, lower alcohol ales and lagers to the masses of Portland and beyond. With a penchant for nostalgia and a raucous sense of humor, Level aims to provide a family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere with beer styles for all.
We didn’t honestly know much about the Shriners, other than the hats, until we were approached about brewing a beer for their 100th anniversary. As a company we try to support our local community and generally causes we think are good. I can’t think of a much better cause than helping out children and their families and that’s why we decided to collaborate with Shriners.
Steeplejack Brewing
Brody Day, owner | Portland, Oregon
Steeplejack owner, Brody Day, grew up in Northern California. At the age of 2 he began complaining about pain coming from his right leg. The odd thing was that there was no visible trauma, no bruising or lacerations, so despite his complaints, the pain was ignored for several weeks. The pain in his leg persisted, so Brody’s parents decided to take him to see a doctor and have x-rays taken. The x-rays came back negative and the doctor found no apparent issues in the leg, determining that the pain was likely growing pains. Weeks went by and the pain continued to persist. Seeking second opinions from additional doctors yielded no apparent issues.
Ultimately referred to the UC Davis Medical Center, Brody received a diagnosis of severe Osteomyelitis in the growth plate of his right leg and it would require surgery and possibly amputation. Brody’s family chose to have the surgery at Shriners Children’s. Despite the initial concern that amputation at the knee might be necessary, the leg was successfully preserved through the great efforts of his surgeons. Grateful for the Shriners’ intervention, who generously covered the entire cost of surgery and a six-month recovery at the hospital, Brody underwent the process of relearning how to walk. The Shriners’ unwavering support during this challenging period left an indelible impact on Brody and his family, saving his leg and fundamentally altering his life. Their belief in him and the critical assistance provided became a source of profound gratitude that continues to resonate. “The Shriners changed my life and I can’t thank them enough for that” said Day.
Steeplejack Brewing is a family owned and operated brewery based in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2021, Steeplejack has 3 locations and is distributed throughout Oregon and Washington. Steeplejack is committed to producing world class beers and making them accessible to everyone.
Cougar Crest Estate Winery
Debbie Hansen, owner | Walla Walla, Washington
Getting into winemaking wasn’t something Deborah and David Hansen thought was in the cards. Before getting into the wine business, Deborah had been a pharmacist, and David a veterinarian. But when their careers lead them to San Francisco, a love of winemaking was born amongst the California wineries.
Now, Deborah and David have been in the winemaking business since 1997. Originally having developed apple orchards in the Walla Walla Valley, the Hansens made their transition from apples to grapes when a 10-acre block of apples needed to be replaced. In 2001, the Hansens started their Cougar Crest Estate Winery, and since then, that 10-acre block has become over 100 acres, spread out over four different vineyards in Walla Walla Valley AVA.
In 2016, Cougar Crest Estate Winery branched out from its Walla Walla roots and licensed property for winemaking on the Oregon side of the river in Milton-Freewater, a town which had been home to the Hansens since they moved to the Pacific Northwest. With a vineyard near their home in Oregon, the Hansens decided if they were going to have a winery in Oregon, it would be great to have a tasting room as well.
Their Oregon tasting room was originally located in Dundee, but it didn’t attract nearly the amount of foot traffic or drop in customers they were hoping for. So, when a location opened up for them in Lake Oswego, they jumped on the chance. Their Lake Oswego tasting room opened on Memorial Day weekend this year, and they haven’t looked back.
“We have really been surprised by the community support,” Deborah said. “We really made the best move we could have possibly made.”
At their Lake Oswego tasting room, customers get an inside look at just how much variety can come out of the rich soil of Walla Walla Valley at Cougar Crest Estate Winery. Though all their grapes are grown locally at their vineyards–as well as the wine made, produced, and bottled–the variety of grapes and wines they offer show a truly eclectic collection.
“The customers that come in are always surprised that we grow our own grapes,” Deborah said. “Even though we grow our grapes in Milton-Freewater, it really is a testament to the variety and quality that Oregon can produce.”
Amongst the varietals grown at their vineyards are grapes with countries of origin ranging from France to Spain and Portugal, offering around sixteen different wine varieties.
Their tasting room is open five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday, for customers to experience everything Cougar Crest has to offer. Get more information on Cougar Crest Estate Winery, their varieties, history, and tasting rooms at cougarcrestwinery.com.
Oregon Rain Soap
We are Johnna and Rob Zeigler, owners of Oregon Rain Soap company and Oregon Rain Naturals, LLC. We are a family owned and operated local business in the Pacific Northwest, near Portland, Oregon in a rural town called Sherwood. We make high quality, reasonably priced and naturally made products.
I’ve been making soap since 1990. Soapmaking has been in my family since the late 1970’s. I was around nine years old when my mom, Elayne, started making soap. My mom and dad made unscented oatmeal soap for all of my upbringing. I had never used scented soaps until I went to college but I had adverse reactions to all the store bought soap. After I graduated college with a teaching degree, I wanted to try making soap for myself. With the help of my parents, they leant me the molds my dad built and taught me how to make soap from my heart. I knew then that I really wanted to make soap and sell it, calling it Oregon Rain Soap. But life continued on and that dream was set aside. I continued to make unscented soap just for my family and friends.
It wasn’t until I met my husband Rob that I started adding scent to the soap. He knew how much I loved scents, so he bought me my first essential oil; lavender. Rob helped me make my first lavender batch and it was amazing. Everyone went crazy over it! Rob enjoyed soapmaking with me so we spent many hours researching and experimenting with different scents and herbs.
I can honestly say, my husband made my dreams come true because in 2003 we started Oregon Rain Soap! Since then we have expanded into liquid foaming soaps, lotions, candles, lip balms, bath salts, aromatherapy essential oils and sprays. And in 2019 we added Oregon Rain Naturals, LLC to expand our product lines.
I hope you feel the love and care we put into all of our products! We only want to bring the best product to our customers so we only test on family first. We do not test on animals!
